Changes to the electoral makeup of the county are under review following recommendations from Wiltshire Council.

The council is asking people for their views on plans by the Electoral Review Committee to change the boundaries of Wiltshire's 18 Area Boards.

Consultation on the changes will run until Saturday, October 31.

An Area Board is part of the council made up by local councillors to addresses issues and services in those communities.

It comes as part of the Community Governance Review, which kicked off in November 2019 and was agreed at an extraordinary council meeting last month (September 9).

A council spokesman said: “Following the Electoral Review of Wiltshire Council, Electoral Divisions for the May 2021 elections no longer align to the boundaries for the Council’s 18 Area Boards, which are based on Electoral Divisions.

“It is, therefore, necessary for Full Council to agree new Area Board boundaries for implementation in May 2021.”

The committee will review the response and prepare final recommendations to be considered at the full council meeting on 24 November 2020.

These changes, should they be agreed by the full council will come into effect at the next scheduled parish council elections in May next year.

The draft report can be found here.
