Gardening competition a blooming success Featured

Malmesbury in Bloom returned with a flourish after a year's hiatus, on Friday, September 22.

Winners gathered on Friday night to receive certificates and cups from Mayor Wayne Jones and competition judge Lisa Gore.

The Malmesbury in Bloom Gardening competition this year introduced a new category, the Super Gardener.

The Super Gardner Cup, sponsored by the Malmesbury Garden Centre, is awarded to a gardener who has overcome the limitations of a disability or impairment to keep their garden growing bright and beautiful.

The first award of its kind was awarded to Norman Hunt, and the overall winner of the competition was Athlestan House.

This years winners:

Window box/Container/Hanging basket: Mr Dangerfield

Court yard/Small Garden/Patio: Moraig Henderson

Large garden (more than 10X10 meters): Mr Dangerfield

Street, Road or Area: Glovers Court

Commercial premises

Wild Flower Garden: Glovers Court

Vegetable garden: Mr and Mrs Gifford

Super Gardener: Norman Hunt

Overall winner: Athelstan House
