Capturing beauty on your doorstep

PHOTOGRAPHER Robert Peel loves Malmesbury so much that he has taken thousands of pictures of the town – usually without straying more than 300 metres from his house.

His evocative images have graced the front pages of national newspapers and his work has been lauded on air by one of his greatest admirers, Radio 2 breakfast presenter Chris Evans....

URGENT repairs to Malmesbury’s Town Hall were approved unanimously by Malmesbury Town Council at a meeting on Tuesday night.

Due to wear and tear caused by the weather a part of the building on the north west side on Market Street has begun to bulge, requiring repairs by skilled stonemasons as soon as possible....

Residents of an elderly people’s home in South Africa, whose usual experience of traditional dance displays may be of Zulu origin, could be in for a culture shock.

They will be treated to an exhibition of English morris dancing, courtesy of Malmesbury School students....

The Flying Monks of Malmesbury 2014 extend their ‘wings as they prepare to fly...

Youngsters in Malmesbury have been learning how to do The Flying Monk – a traditional dance inspired by the town’s plummeting medieval aviator.

Malmesbury Brownies got to grips with the moves after learning the steps from the town’s Morris dancers.

The dance was inspired by and commemorates the failed attempt by 11th-century Benedictine monk Eilmer to fly from the top of Malmesbury Abbey with a pair of home-made wings....
