MALMESBURY Beer and Sausage Festival was back with a bang this year at The Smoking Dog.

Crowds enjoyed the sunshine, live music and local beers, ciders and sausages on offer at the pub on the High Street.

Alcohol was provided by Flying Monk Brewery in Hullavington, and sausages on behalf of Malmesbury-based butcher Leonard Walker.

Bands from Bath and Bristol performed over the weekend and an open mic night allowed locals artists to show off their talents.

This year was manager Nic Carson’s first festival.

He said: “It went really well. It was brilliant and really positive, there was no trouble. I couldn’t ask for more.

“A lot of people said how good it was and the cider stole the show, we sold out on Saturday and beer did really well too.

“I wanted to freshen it up and do my own take and get locals involved.

“A lot of people wanted it to be a celebration of Malmesbury.”

Mr Carson invited Martin Bridge, a former manager of The Smoking Dog, who started the festival to work behind the bar.

He said: “I wanted him to be there, to kind of pass on the baton to me.”
