Our Patron, St. Aldhelm, was born in Wessex c.640 A.D. and became Abbot of the Benedictine community at Malmesbury c.675 A.D. Later he became Bishop of Sherborne, although still retaining connections with Malmesbury. Aldhelm used to sing and recite poetry in public places to attract an audience before preaching. He was an enthusiast for the Latin language and wrote metrical riddles. He died at Doulting, Somerset in 709 A.D. and was buried at Malmesbury Abbey. In this parish we celebrate his feast day on 24th May. For more information on St. Aldhelm see: St. Aldhelm (1) or St. Aldhelm (2)

Since the parish was founded in 1866 its priests have been supplied by the Missionaries of St. Francis de Sales. Our present priest is Father George O'Sullivan, M.S.F.S. who hails from Cork, Ireland, and has a passion for rugby.
